Empowered Dream Hunts and their Track Chair brought smiles to the faces of a lot of people with disabilities and their family and friends this fall. Empowered Dream Hunts loaned a track chair to our resort, Pine Forest Lodge, for use of people with disabilities in August and September. There were 13 people with various disabilities who got to use it.
We heard about Empowered Dream Hunts on a program on Wisconsin Public Radio. Within a week trackchair was provided to us for a young girl with Muscular Dystrophy to use. She is the daughter of an active duty, service member. Empowered Dream Hunts went to great lengths to make this possible. When they heard about all the other people with disabilities who were coming to Pine Forest Lodge, in the similar time period, they made it possible for us to keep the Track Chair for 3 ½ weeks. In that time period we had people with disabilities of Cerebral Palsy, polio, Parkinson's, multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury and spina bifida. The Northern Wisconsin Spina Bifida association also hold their retreat at our resort every September. This was their 24th annual. Many of those with spina bifida are children of veterans exposed to agent orange, including a couple who have been here at our resort. All the users of the track chair derived a great joy from being able to experience nature independently, taking the trails and going back and forth from cabins to the beach and bonfire freely.
Pine Forest Lodge strives to be accommodating and inspiring to people with disabilities. There is kayaking, fishing, a pontoon boat, a wheelchair that can go into the water for access to swimming, and an electric UTV for trail rides. So we were so happy to have the use of the Track Chair for one more fantastic option. One young woman with a spinal cord injury went for a ride by herself (using the Track Chair) every morning on the trails, and again every afternoon with her mother. She stated it was “the first time I've taken walks with my Mom in 15 years”. Her Mom was equally excited. Everyone was so grateful to Empowered Dream Hunts for making this freeing opportunity available. Thank you so very much for making outdoors more accessible to so many who have disabilities.
William Bishop from Fremont would like to thank everyone from the Empowered Dream Hunt Inc. Organization for making my 2018 hunt a lot more possible. What a fantastic organization. Thou I did not harvest a deer this year your track chair made my hunt much easier for me to get around our hunting property and enjoy another year of hunting with my family. It was wonderful knowing that there was 3 generations of Bishops out in the woods. Thank you to all who had made this possible.
Glenn's dream was to go on a bear hunt and after 10+ years of Glenn building up points he finnaly was able to go. Glenn is a gun smith and built his own gun, Glenn's good friend Gary Lee was even more excited to take him so Gary contacted Empowered Dream Hunts to use their Action Trackchair and Glenn was able to go and enjoy the hunt with Gary. Even though Glenn wasn't able to bag his bear he enjoyed the outdoors and to be able to hunt.
Dillon was in a car accident that left him paralyzed but that didn't stop Dillon his love for hunting, it slowed him down but didn't stop him. His Dad Doug contacted Empowered Dream Hunts to use their Action Trackchair. With the use of the chair Dillon was able to go hunting or just to make it easier cause nothing was going stop Dillon with the aid of his Dad Doug. Dillon passed on many deer waiting for the right one but sad to say the big one did not cooperate.
